This Halloween, don’t let a drug arrest be on scare list

by | Oct 17, 2016 | Drug Crimes

Fall marks the end of summer and is somewhat sad in that sense. On the other hand, this point in October is when ideas run through the heads of adults and children about what they will be for Halloween.

Maybe you plan to dress up in costume. If you are a Penn State student, there are without a doubt various Halloween party options to attend. Rather than worry too much about what you will dress up as this holiday, you might want to study up on drug laws that impact you and your friends.

All around the country, the past several years have ushered in more lenient laws regarding the use of marijuana. Since we know that pot is often found within the college scene, we feel it is important to remind the young adults in the area that the decriminalization of marijuana is not a reality in Pennsylvania.

Being in the wrong place at the wrong time can result in a criminal charge and potentially a drug charge conviction. That wrong place easily could be a campus party during this festive time of year.

The authorities won’t care that it is Halloween. They also won’t care that other states might allow the recreational use of marijuana. If you are caught in possession of even a relatively small amount of the drug, you could be sentenced to at least 30 days in jail.

You might believe that marijuana is just a minor thing. But a so-called minor thing like pot can significantly change your life. If you are accused of having drugs, take the matter seriously. Talk to a drug crimes defense lawyer who understands the impact this point in your life has on your future.
